Community Food and Friendship Blyth
Community Food and Friendship Blyth is a registered charity run solely by volunteers. We offer a Men’s Bacon Butty Club on a Thursday morning at St Cuthbert’s Hall, 9.30 – 11am.
We work with the local authority and other organisations who refer those in need of emergency food boxes, we also share surplus donated food with partners and the wider community where needed.
Our work has always focussed on those who are living in homeless hostels or HMO housing in Blyth. We offer clothes and toiletries when requested and opportunities e.g. mentors to help with job search.
At Christmas we work with schools and buy presents for families who will struggle to buy for their children and we also deliver Christmas Eve Hampers by referral with food donated by local stores.
Our Strive for Blyth Project was created to help local schools who needed laptops/IPad for those families without technology to enable children to achieve by providing a level playing field.
Over £3k has been donated to Blyth schools to buy new laptops and over 25 used laptops donated by the community for school IT technicians.
As we build a network of providers who offer various types of support, we hope to achieve an all-round support service to those whose lives are challenged and are being prevented from reaching their full potential.
