Ridley Park in Blyth is a great place for a family visit. As well as beautiful surroundings, the park offers three different play areas for children, seasonal carnival rides, a café, a tennis court and basketball net. There are also a variety of flowers and sculptures that you can spend a relaxing time wandering around to view.

As a father of two young children the most popular, and most frequently visited, features of the park are the play areas. My 4 year old’s favourite activity is climbing up the hill and sliding down the ‘big slide’ in the larger play park – something I have fond memories of doing myself when I was her age! This larger park hosts a number of other items, such as climbing frames, a zip wire and a balance rope.

My younger daughter loves to spend time in the smaller park, which has a number of swings and slides for toddlers.

There is also a splash park, with many water features turned on in the summer months. This is a newer feature of the park and a real draw for families with younger children. The fact that it is situated in the centre of a large field of grass means that parents can relax while their children play safely within eye-shot.

The café at Ridley Park, ‘Mr Ridley’s, means that families can make a day out of their visit. Whether it is a light snack, a sugary treat or a hearty meal you are after, Mr Ridley will have something to meet your family’s needs.
