Spartans Top Of The League
29 October 2015
On Wednesday night, Blyth Spartans travelled down to league rivals Whitby Town. With the scores level at 0-0 on the half time whistle, the game ended 2-0 to Spartans. A brace from in-form striker Dan Maguire on the 59th and 76th minutes sealed the 3 points and moved Blyth back to top of the Evo Stik Northern Premier Division; 3 points clear of closest rivals Darlington 1883.
They are back at Croft Park on Saturday when they welcome Cumbrian side Kendal Town in the FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round. The final of the competition is played at Wembley. Blyth managed to get to the quarter finals in 2010/2011 season but got put out by local rivals Gateshead, who went on to lose to Darlington in the semi finals.
