Matlock 1 - 3 Blyth Spartans
18 September 2012
Blyth travelled to Matlock on Saturday, seeking another good away result & they showed great determination & character once again, coming from 1-0 down away, to score THREE late goals to pick up the all important 3-points! A truly unstoppable goal by Matlock's number 11, with a 25-yarder into the top corner was one of the few talking points of the match in the first half......the Referee got injured in the second-half and there was a delay in play whilst his replacement got ready, then the Spartans goals started to flow.........Super-Sub Ash Davies scored his first League goal for Blyth, with a lovely controlled turn & half-volley to equalise, followed by prolific striker Craig Farrell putting the ball over the line after a lovely cushioned header by Robbie Dale to make it 1-2. Then ANOTHER goal from Sub Ash Davies, scrambling over a rebounded shot late on. This puts Spartans back in the lead as the Top Scorers of the League and takes them up to 6th position. - Moving in the right direction.
**Blyth Spartans are next at Home at Croft Park on Tuesday 18th September against Chorley FC, with a 7.45pm kick-off.**
