Seahourse LIVE
The Seahorse pub in Blyth is re-establishing its reputation as an outstanding Live Music venue by hosting regular live music evenings as well as promoting Special events featuring internationally acclaimed performers.
Regular events include:
Seahorse Open Mic Extravaganza every Tuesday, which to date has seen contributions from more than 80 performers, from as far afield as Sunderland, South Tyneside, North Tyneside, Gateshead and Newcastle and wider reaches of Northumberland as well as those more local. The combination of regular and occasional visits by performers ensures a constant variety of musical offering to be enjoyed by our very appreciative and responsive audience.
Friday Live as the name suggests promotes Live Music every Friday in two formats:
Friday Live - Acoustic Sessions presents four 35 minute sets by performers drawn from the best of the local acoustic music circuit, with many original contributions from singer/songwriters as well as interesting interpretations of well known songs and popular cover versions.
Friday Live – Blues Live is a monthly diversion from the Acoustic Session format that turns it’s spotlight onto the best the local blues circuit has to offer. Initially picking up on the ground work established by Blyth Rock & Blues Club, Blues Live has to date presented in the format of two sets by one featured act each month. More by coincidence than any considered preference the blues performers so far have very much been in keeping with the Acoustic Sessions ethos as they have been Acoustic Duo’s rather than a full band.
The venue itself provides an excellent forum for the whole range of live music events, with high quality PA system ensuring a clarity of sound without the high volume levels often associated with ‘pub gigs’ and the general ambience is cosy and friendly. All standard regular events are free entry and have the added attraction of a hot buffet supper being provided for everyone to enjoy along with the musical fare.
